Finding out details of a prosecution.

I believe that someone else posted a query similar to this and received 'moral' and subjective answers in response rather than hard facts or suggestions. May I respectfully ask that all answers are 'helpful' rather than personal opinion.

Where can I find out the details of a Crown Court Case held about 21 years ago ?

The case was in the Local and National Press and TV.

I no longer live in the area that this happened and am therefore unable to look at the local newspaper archives on microfiche at the library.

Ideally I'd love to have a look at the Court transcripts as the media misreported substantial chunks of the case.

This case has a real impact on my family, although at the time, the person concerned was unknown to me.

Section 4 of the Public Records Act 1958 requires that transcripts of court cases are closed to the public for a minimum of 30 years - often longer.

Your only sources of information is the newpapers of the day.

I suppose I'll just have to wait until the newspapers get round to putting their 21 year old archives onj the net.

your local library will likely have copies of them on microfiche, i believe it is free to look at them but you have to book in advance and tell them the year and paper etc
