Assuming that you do have a beneficial interest [for which it is useful to have written & signed proof from the estate holder] you can register a caution or a restriction at the Land Registry. The form which you complete depends on the precise circumstances but I have used a form AN1 and on another occasion a form RX1. The Land Registry website, www.landregistry.gov.uk is very helpful and most of the forms are downloadable.
