broken double yellow lines

I have been issued a parking ticket in an area I usually park as there are single yellow lines then leading to double in a small area. The double yellow lines I parked on yesterday are hardly noticible, faded and broken so I didn't think it mattered if I parked on them. I would like to take pictures and appeal but is there any point and if I don't pay within so many days the fine will go up to �60 . Any advice?

Yes - pay the fine!

You admit that you parked on double yellow lines, it doesn't matter if they are faded/broken - they are still visible so you shouldn't park on them. I doubt you would win if you did appeal so better to just pay up now before the fine increases.

You could fight on the technicality that the markings failed to comply with Road Traffic legislation , but unless you know what you are talking about the legal fees will far outweigh the fine

why wouldn't it matter?

the yellow lines are just an indicator to tell you where you cannot park. the yellow lines themselves are not the issue or the reason, it is the area itself that they indicate that you are not allowed on - you can't park in the gaps.
you knew they were there.
