Whats the law with regards to bringing animals into Britain from other countries (with regards to buying pets on the net and having them shipped to Britain) .

Thanks for that Norman, can I just confirm then that 2 pups cannot be sent by air from Nigeria without going into quarantine when they get here?

Animals including puppies entering Britain from Nigeria MUST go into quarantine - Nigeria has rabies.

Thanks for that Ethel. I totally agree with you about it being the worst way one could buy a pet. The reason I ask is because there are so many people getting scammed on the net . The scam is that pedigree dogs,cats and parrots etc are advertized for adoption. The advertizers say "I don't want a dime for my beloved pet, I just need you to pay the shipping fees (they quote �200 per pet) and you can pick the pet up from your nearest airport. They then give an address in either Nigeria or Cameroon for the money to be paid via Western Union. You'd be amazed at how many people are falling for this scam (Ive heard from lots of them since I put a warning on several free advertizing sites). It only just occured to me today that even if the pet did exist it still wouldnt be as simple as putting it on a plane and having it collected by the buyer at the other end. I was pretty sure that there were quarantine laws but wasn't absolutely certain which countries didnt have to comply. Cheers.

lizzydrippin - I am very relieved by your answer! I was imagining you importing illegal fighting dogs into the UK or worse.
