Abandoned pushbike
5 Answers
Hi, am new to this but hope someone can help....
I recently moved into a new flat (March 15) and the former tenant has left a pushbike in the shed, I have her new address and have been sending on post but have also asked twice if she would contact me to arrange a time to collect the bike, she has all my contact numbers but so far hasn't called.
The landlord has also written to ask her and to my knowledge she hasn't contacted him either. I want to put stuff in the shed and am not sure what rights I have to remove (or sell) the bike....
Any thoughts would be great, thanks!

Telephone her again, and if you get no joy you should send a letter.
Write to her by recorded delivery post, giving her 28 days (or 14 days if you prefer) to remove the bike or it will be disposed of.
Mention the previous requests to remove the bike, and the attempts to contact her.

This is really an issue between the landlord and the previous tenant, not you and the previous tenant. Write to the landlord saying that because of previous tenants goods in the shed you are not getting full use etc and that if they are not removed within 7 days then you will dispose of. It's up to the landlord to sort this really.
Thanks, all I will try writing again and send it recorded, don't want to leave it to the landlord as I can't be sure he will do anything and I need to to know I've at least tried and I can't ride round as the bike is padlocked!
Don't understand it really as its a nice bike but there you go,
thanks again,
