on the 08-03-2007 i got stopped on a private (unnamed) road in my van ...a merc sprinter!

anyway...they put on my producer that i had to take the documents of a ford transit with the reg mark ********

anyway ......for reasons unknown to me i didnt take the ticket to the police station!

4 months later i have had a summons for court, they have written on the summons that it was a merc sprinter but they have written a seperate letter saying they made a mistake that the vehicle was NOT a transit and they were mistaken.............they realised the mistake after watching it drive down the road.................. my van has a private plate on it!!! ..................... this cant stand up in court can it???

ps............. if i get a fine i will happily take it as i forgot to take the docs in!!!

For a start - it doesnt matter whether you were on a private road - if the publiuc have access to it you have to be insured etc.

Secondly I dont see the relavance of having a private plate in these circumstances.

Thirdly they have 6 months to prosecute - which they have done in time and they have rectified their mistake. The fact remains that you didnt produce documents for the van you were driving at the time the police stopped you. That's the offence. Turn up. You'll be given the chance to explain your version of events and accept the fine and costs if that's what you are happy to accept.
The error of the make/model is classed as minor admin and will not affect the validity of the producer.
Hopefully, the fact that you are so proud of having a private plate will cause them to double any fine.
Just a spot of idle curiosity here...is your van a white one by any chance?

well thanks for the patronising posts here...life would be very dull without you!!

the fact i mentioned the private plate is because on the police statement he said " after seeing this vehicle driving down the road".....nearly 3 months later........... well as i have a private plate on .. it could of easily been transfered to another vehicle within that time???

in answer to your question .......... yes my vans are white!!

now answer this for me out of idle curiosity........... how far can you see from your high and mighty castle?

man in black........... its an investment plate with my son's initials on it!! when he is older it will worth a fortune......... so yes i do hope they double the fine because i can afford it!!
Lighten up!
I'm not knocking private plates....Mr Overall bought me one for my birthday last year for one of my Rolls Royces (ok, so I lie....it's a Ford Fiesta) and I'm dead chuffed with it.
Well the bit about the reg plate wasn't explained at all in the original post. It read like they realised the mistake after they watched it drive down the road after giving you the ticket.

I don't consider myself high and mighty - just trying to help.
