Hi there i am hoping somebody can help me with my situation. 4 months ago i had a bump in my car involving me pulling out of a junction with bad visability of main road and a motorbike having to swerve to avoid me causing the driver to come off and hurt her knee. it was a country road, i was stationary and the motorbike was travelling approx 10mph. I called the police and after a statement the seargent said he would reccomend just a caution. however today i have received a letter offering a Driver Improvement course costing 155. This wold be the end of the matter. If turned down i would be in the magistrates for "driving without due care and attention or reasonsable consideration". This was a suprise after what the seargent had told me. Im an experienced car driver and by day drive a 32 tonne truck for 60hrs a week and have no penalty points but DO have a years drink driving ban on my licence from 5 years ago. Can anybody advise what i should do? thanks in advance!!

If you say the visibility was bad, I would go back and take some photos from where you exited into the main road and provide a reason for your actions. If you are correct in what you say put your case to the magistrate.
I would take the course. You pulled out onto a main road You admit visibility is bad so you should have taken more care. If you had there would not have been an accident. You may not like it but a court is likely to find you guilty
Take the course. IT's better than a conviction on your record, especially with your job.

I already admit responsibility for it..it was as stated a momentary loss of concentration. However i wonder what the consequences of going to court may be for a professional driver like myself?

Do you mind me asking how you were stationary if you were pulling out of a junction?

Also, surely if you were stationary and the bike was moving then it was her fault for hitting a stationary vehicle?
