An event I was due to go to this summer was cancelled due to flooding. My friends and I have been told that there are no refunds on tickets as the company can't afford it. Surely they would have had some sort of insurance? Whilst we understand that they are in a difficult situation we are not rich and don't want to lose the money. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I do not doubt that they honestly cannot afford it and they probably could not afford insurance in the first place.

BUT that is not your problem, keep pestering them. Tell them now that you are issueing a County Court Summons and hopefully someone on here will advise you how to go about that.

Whilst we may have sympathy, if it had been a glorious day they would have made a fortune.
what event was it,is there anything printed on the ticket about cancellation.

Thanks for your replies. It was actually the Joust event at Berkeley Castle. The tickets were not that expensive (about 15 each) but as there were lots of families going it all adds up. The only thing printed on the ticket is something about the promoter having the right to change what events are put on, but nothing about cancellation.

On the web site they are suggesting people try and get the money back from their credit card company. http://www.joust.info/frames.htm
