What are the legal implications?
If I drop a piece of litter in the street its an offence. If I get rid of a load of rubbish illegally on either public or private land its flytipping. I accept and understand why these activities are criminal, punishable offences.
So how come, when I return home from work, open the front door and discover my hallway strewn with bits of paper advertising anything from take-away fast food to estate agent this isn't littering? I havent asked to receive them, they dont contain my address on the front. They've basically deposited rubbish through my letterbox.
I used to have a policy of opening up all the junk mail and posting it all back in the pre-paid envelope just to cost them money, but ran out of the energy to bother.
