moved into a house early 2007, we still annoyingly receive some of their post, on a daily basis. Got back from holiday, walked into the house saw a delivery note saying "one parcel left in green bin" thats its!

Went out and found a parcel address to the other people. Parcel full of brillaint books. Now.....

Would you be honest, and write them a letter and advise them that the package is here. or

leep the books, if they contact advise them that I receive a delivery not, but it stated not name or items description, just amount and where it was.

What would you do????

Books hav been paid for as invoice shows payment, also shows billing address as their new address and delivery address as my adress

I think you probably already know the answer to this one, love..........
Id be honest and let the book supplier know.
wot do u think the velvet lady would do?
If it was me who was expecting the books, I would hope that the person who received them was honest enough to let me know and not just to steal them.
ooooooo, whos all goody two shoes

not me.
Well let's hope a parcel for you doesn't go astray then. Perhaps you would change your mind if it happened to you.

Whose getting at spaced? They asked what I would do so I answered.
no-one knows if the book company werent at fault for not changing the delivery addy.

a holiday in october, someone got money, did you go anywhere nice spaced? id love to go on holiday!
shouldnt be opening other peoples mail anyway, its illegal, should send it straight back
Why are they sending books to their old address when they were quite able to give the correct address for the invoice. Bit strange. I would keep them and say you never received them. Not like you signed for them. They could have been quite easily lifted by someone passing by. But thats me.
I moved house 18 months ago, shortly after I ordered a Wigan Pier CD off the official website where I had ordered from many times before,I filled in all the delivery details correctly for my new address but they still sent my CD to the old address, when I went round the new tenants claimed they hadn't recieved it....bit odd considering they signed for it.lol. Luckily the website sent me a new CD once I explained at no extra charge to me.I would advise that you contact the sender of the books and ask them to send a courier to pick them up.If you don't you could get in trouble for theft.
For 2 years since moving in, I just marked post for past owners 'Return to Sender' (singing the Elvis song in my head) and put them back in the post.

Now I just throw letters straight in the bin. If I received a parcel I would send it back or call the sending company.
From what you say the previous owners when purchasing the books have changed their invoice address, but didn't change the delivery address an easy mistake! These people have paid for their books and made a genuine mistake. You know what you should do.......
You already know the answer, by the way you have asked the question... Tell them their parcel is with you and give it to them when they call.

just to clear a few things up, and this is really aimed at Gina....

I did not open the package. The parcel was left in my bin, a bin with no lid, therefore 1 week of rain = absolutely soaked and mushy box. Luckily the plastic inside kept the books dry. The box nor the the slip in the door had no name on it so I could not tell who it was for. As the box was basically falling to pieces I found the delivery note.

As some of you have guessed, I already know the answer. Im writing them a letter to advise them that their package is with me. Just wanted to know who would keep and who would give back.
they were in the bin, not put there by you

cant see any reason to move them in the first place

no name on the parcel, strange, must be wonderful ink as well because you would think that the rain would have smudged the name and address wouldnt you
Question Author
eh? I think you two are a tad bit confused.

Parcel left in a box/bin (no lid). Me on holiday for a week. Rained onto box = box mushy. No name or label on box. NAME ON DESPATCH NOTE ( a despatch note in a little bit of paper with your name and items on...follow me so far???)

Bring parcel in from outside. Let parcel dry. Write letter to previous owners.

Write on asnwer bank.

Get it now??? Or would you like me to draw you a picture?

Seems like everyone but you 2 got it.....DERR!!!!
