what can we do if we believe the executor of a will is not doing his job properly

What do you mean 'not doing his job properly'?

Being a bit slow - nothing you can do about that - it does take time

Not doing what the will says - you can sue him after the event, and warning him you may do so may stop him going wrong

You can actually do something which is "calling an executor into account" and you can have the executorship taken from them sand you or another appointed person can take over. Go see a probate solicitor and they will help you if they can.
