Were the bills part of the rental (which I doubt) or did you have to pay them anyway? If you were responsible anyway, then surely you pay for what you have used and therefore can't claim anything back?

No they weren't, they were seperate. The problem with it is though that she wants to claim back from the TV license. But because she broke her tenancy by using drugs in the house she should have lost any right she has to it, as she was forced to move out, she didn't choose to move out. What do you think?
She could just transfer the TV license to her new address if the license is in her name.

No the license is in my name, for our student household
well if she isnt there she shouldnt be paying her share of the tv liscense. I would think it was reasonable to give her the rest of the year's amount back, minus a month pro rated if she was evicted summarirly. Treat it like she gave you a months notice. If someone else moved in they shuld pay the rest of the year now. Shouldn't each student who has a telly pay for a lisence anyway?
How much did she pay of the licence fee ?

If she paid all of it, I think it is fair to give a rebate.

and if she paid half, the half the rebate....in proportion or pro rata as athe lawyers say.

she only paid 30 pounds towards it, which was her equal share of it
