On Monday, I will hopefully be in Canada with my girlfriend. I have the flight booked, passport's here, everything is sorted... Or so I thought. I looked up the terms and conditions for flying with Zoom Airlines... And it says it's nessecary for me to have a Proof of Citizenship. I assumed my passport would be sufficient for that, seeing as the national ID scheme here still isn't in play... Does anyone know whether my passport would do, or if not, where can I go to get this proof of citizenship by the time Monday comes round?
As Zoom is a Canadian airline I suspect the reference to proof of citizenship is a hangover from the days when US/Canadian citizens didn't need passports to travel between each others countries, but could get by with a driving licence and a birth certificate - the latter rarely being asked for in practice.
For a UK citizen a passport is the required proof of citizenship.
Have a great trip! Some mates of mine just came back from a fishing trip to Saskatchewan & decided to try Zoom. They said it was much better than they anticipated.
Thanks a lot! Yeah, really looking forward to it, nervous isn't quite the word either! Great to hear someone else's perspective of the place too, and it's also a relief to know Zoom is a decent company to fly with, the cheapest tickets I could find are from Zoom so I was slightly apprehensive as to why the ticket were such good value!
