Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice - Winehouse

Help, I can't get my head round something. Amy Winehouses husband has been arrested for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. He and 2 others were allegedly paying off a man they attacked in June (James King) so he would drop all charges before a court case was opened on Monday and go into hiding in Spain. It was reported he was to receive �210,000 for this. Now that this underhand negotiation has become public and people have been arrested will James King ever get any compensation for the brutal GBH attack he surrered, will he too get arrested as he was also in on this � exchange? I can't figure out if he will loose the chance of ever getting any compensation, or if he too will end up with a criminal record as a result of this. Could he appeal that he was scared, forced into it? Would that stand up in court, it's bugging me. Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

Once a crime becomes part of the Justice system, for want of a better phrase, it transcends the participants.

There are reasons for the law and if King was a willing participant then there is no reason why he shouldn't be charged and if he has used the law to his own gain he shouldn't be entitled to anything.

Remember if he gets away with it there are victims all over the country who could be "coerced". Its much bigger than this case.

If somebody drops charges (although this is a slight misnomer in English Law, as the CPS can still prosecute with or without the victims wishes) they will sign an official Police statement.

On that statement (all police statements) it will be pre-printed with the words

"This statement is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that if it is tendered in evidence I shall be liable to prosecution if I have stated anything which is false or I do not believe to be true" (or something like that??)

Also on retraction statements they will sign words to the effect of

"I have made this statement of my own free will. I have not be coerced in to making it, and in doing so am in company with Police officers (and maybe solicitor) and no third party influence"

This will thus show he is a dodgy character.

He should be prosecuted, and he should receive not a single penny from any public purse.
