I imagine you local hospital will only do it if referred by your GP, which is unlikely without medical reason. However, I happen to have come into possession of a price list for the private Nuffield Hospital. It varies depending on what part is being xrayed. For example, chest, is 87 and barium enema is 378, if it gives you pleasure! The price list may be online. Professional ethics may prevent them from doing it without a medical reason but you can always try.
Hi homer, you can't buy the original x-ray you get copies. Anyone who takes x-rays has a duty to keep them for a certain amount of years - they can't release them to anyone either but normally you can request copies. They are only allowed to charge a minimum amount 10 - 25 per film however now they are done on a disk in most places which should not incur much cost at all. You can have them released to you for up to 6 weeks but you have to normally sign a release form this is to cover them if they go missing. A lot of Chiropractors have x-ray facilities however they have to follow guidelines and can't just x-ray anyone without a reason. To have x-rays done there can cost between 38-53 pounds but you do have every right to buy copies wherever you go.
