What are her rights?
My daughter bought a pair of knee length boots from a shoe warehouse. She wore them once and when she looked next time there was a split in seam at the back. She took them back and receipt and they refused to exchange them or give her money back. They said they would lose out so my daughter said I am the one losing out I can't wear them. They said she must have caught them. How can you catch the seam halfway up at the back?If some one can give me some advice on this I will tell her and go with her .Thanks

In reality the supplier will replace them for minimal cost, they are just being bloody minded. You have to get past the trolls in the shop and kick up a fuss with management. This happenned to me once over a pair of trainers and I just stood at the counter refusing to move until they changed them only took 20 minutes of me telling all the other customers not to buy anything as their goods where faulty and showing the evidence.
The basic problem here is that at front of house as it where you have the most extraordinarily dim people who either cannot or have been told not to think for themselves. To get results you have to start costing them money then management are interested.
To change the boots costs them nothing. You have to get brutal I'm afarid.

If shoes break within one wear then they aren;t of satisfactory quality and the shop ar ein breach of Section 14 of the Sale of Goods Act ....http://www.netlawman.co.uk/acts/sale-of-goods- act-1979.php?pageContentID=15578
Go back to the shop with the shoes and receipt, ask to speak to the manager and tell them you know this, they should offer you a replacement and if that's not available they should give you a refund with maybe something deducted for the time she wore them (and yes they can do this). If that doesnt work write to head office and not only complain about the quality of their products but the lousy service you received.
