I signald to change lanes and began to do so, a car that was behind me moved to the lane I was intending to go into and sped up at such a rate I had to take action to avoid an accident.
I beeped the horn, not in road rage as we all make mistakes, just to make him aware of his mistake, becasue we all make mistakes and if i make one I would want to be made aware to aviod it happening again, there was no agresion what so ever.
Later down the road, a dual carigway with roundabouts, 40mph limit he stopped at a roundabout and flashed a card. he did so quick it could have been anything to be honest but shouted, "your getting reported" and drove off like a idiot leaving all other cars looking like they were stood still.
If he was a police officer he was, with out any doubt "off duty", he was in a car with two small kids in and the car had a large amount of things like football stickers and what have you on the windows, plus it wasnt in the condition of a police car by any means.
Am I to take this as a verbal NIP, thinking he did not ask my name, give me any chance to respond and did not give me any written document.
My thinking is he didnt have any info from me so he would have to send me a written NIP to give me chance to ask if i was the driver.
This happend two months ago so if he was going to give me a written NIP time has 100% lapsed for this.
Can anything now happen. Every one, even other police officers I know just tell me not to worry but I want to know if he can do anything.
As regards to it been a black BMW, I can see your thinking behind that ha ha, but no, it was a early 307 hdi, possibly Y reg, its body work was about as smooth as the surface of the moon to say to least.
OK some policemen are up bit up themselves, (I know I work with them) But I would guess that this was not a policeman at all. I keep my warrant card and badge in my bag most of the time, but would not use it unless it was absolutely necessary, for one reason, you don't know who you are flashing it and and you do not have any backup if you get in to a confrontational situation.
Apart from certain drink driving laws and death by dangerous driving, most offences involving the Road Traffic Act stipulates the policeman has to be in uniform.
It is for this very reason that traffic is one of the few laws that insist on uniform.
The man is an idiot. As said best to ignore the tw4t.
I once had a similar thing happen to me only when he bloke got out with his warrant card, it turned out that I knew him.
Not only that, he was a special (needs) policeman, I believe that some call them plastic pigs.
Now anyone that is a special has some sort of void in their life and needs to fill it with something that makes them feel worthwhile.
Anyway as soon as he saw it was me, he made out he know it was me all along and wanted to play a joke.
Please don't give this incident anymore of your thoughts and forget all about it safe in the knowledge that this person probably has some inadequacies in the genitailia department.
