Sky Dish

My 81 year old sister-in-law lives in one of eight small semi-detached privately owned bungalows (4 pairs) in a Close for people over 55 years old. She has been there 18 months, moving from York after the death of her husband. Within weeks, she had a sky dish fiitted to a wall of her property. The dish overhangs the garden of the adjoining property and was put there with the full sanction of the then owner. The new occupant (approx 3 months) has now informed my sister-in-law that she must have the dish removed within a week or she will go to a solicitor. The dish is fiited on the only side of the bungalow that has the alignment with the satellite. There no chimney available. Can the neighbour force my sister-in-law to adhere to her request to remove the sky dish.

Yes - I'm afraid she can. Your sister is trespassing by overhanging the neighbour's property.

Very petty minded but she could enforce it.

yes, the neighbour can force her to remove it. A former occupant's agreement is not necessarily passed on to the new owner unless it specifically forms part of the house sale agreement and is included in the contract.

Just to add a dish fitter would be able to find a way round this, but it will involve extra expense.
