Last year I finished a 2 1/2 year jail term in Australia for drug offences, then I was deported back to Britian Does this record automatically transfer over to the UK?

It's almost certain (because you were deported) that the Foreign Office will have been made aware of your conviction, so there's a record of it somewhere within UK 'officialdom'.

However overseas convictions do not show up on UK CRB checks:

If a potential employer was aware that you'd spent time in Australia, he could seek an AFP check:
