Hi All,

It looks like myself and my husband are moving to the New York for a couple of years in November. I am currently on Maternity leave and am receiving 112 Statutory Maternity pay a week, which is due to stop in September.

My question is what would happen to my maternity pay if I handed my notice in early? Am I still entitled to the SMP untill September if I handed my notice in in June?

I could just wait until September and hand my notice in then, but my boss is a good friend of mine and I would like to tell her sooner that we are leaving the country. Also, the organization I work for is a small charity and would appreciate as much time as possible to recruit my replacement and my current maternity replacement is only contracted until November which would only give the org about 2 months to recruit and get the new person in post etc.

I know that I don't have to pay any SMP back if I leave the organization, but can I give 4 months notice or something?

cheers
