I was so thrilled to hear that she had been found but hearing more about her dysfunctional family I really worry for the children and their future.

Having just read this, I then quickly went to the sky news website to get more info. it doesn't say anything about Shannon going off of her own accord. It says she was found concealed in a bed base and was being held by someone remotely related to her step father. So what's this about the family being on a fiddle?

You're right scoobydooby, it would appear that she was abducted but apparently she hated living at home as her stepfather was violent and she wanted to live with her mum's brother. It must have made her vulnerable to any offer of a safe(???) haven with a family member. No doubt it will all come out, just thankful she's alive.

The man whose flat she was found in is the uncle of her stepfather. There will be more to this story than they are letting on at the moment.Shannon has been placed under a police protection order and is not allowed to be returned to her family just yet.

As for the mother , yes shes got a handful of children to a handful of fatheres some dont live with her.
Is she drawing excessive benefits ?
Do people think shes more entitled to do this than maybe a polish guuy who gets familyallowance for his kids , but works and pays taxes ?
Is it the case that the benefit scroungers and longterm unemployed /unemployable are now not the scroungers they were previously thought of due to the influx of immigrants theyre now off the bottom and can hold their heads up?

Could we have a debate about this without mass aggro ?

I dont think it matters a jot how much it has caused the taxpayer -a 9yr old -missing -then found alive.
The police are damned if they do and damned if they dont (i know you didnt critises the police Doc but they have been stretched to their limits-therefore thats where the money has gone).
I was mortified watching the news last night however and I certainly dont believe in a class system -the opposite in fact cant abide people who place themselves in a socal class -but theres different standards of living-and that was apparent last night.
Doesnt matter how poor you are -surely you can afford a lightshade.No - theyre all spraying their pomagne and reeking the fags up with every finger loaded with gold -prioritise -not a word in their vocabulary.
This was an excuse for another party -one was heard to say -we just had one last night-now another one (bless them -hope their money stretched to more White Lightning).
Dont do themselves any favour i'm afraid.
O BTW -I thought all along it was within the family and for whats its worth I think the mother had more than an idea -this was a game of chess with Shannon as the pawn.
