Common Assault charge
I have been charged with common assault (battery) following an incident in December last year when I was working as a doorman at a nightclub.
A fight had begun near the entrance to the premises involving three customers who we had suspected of using cocaine in the toilets. Myself and two colleague intervened, we restrained one male and eventually removed him from the premises, along with his friend. My two colleagues had positioned themselves outside the club and then the girlfriend of one of the two men stood on the door in front of me and tried to gain entry. I had several shouted at her to move away and she ignored me. She then lunged at me and attempted to scratch my face and neck. I responded by pushing her with my right hand making contact with her collarbone area, with sufficient force to move her out of my physical remit, but not with enough force to cause injury. She remained on her feet throughout.
The woman's boyfriend who was one of the males we had ejected then rushed at me and my colleague restrained him. The male bit his arm, and my colleague punched him and knocked him out. He sustained cuts and bruising to the face. Police and ambulance arrived and the male refused medical treatment. We gave our personal details to the police officers.
10 days later I received a call from the police stating that they needed me to attend the police station where I would be arrested on suspicion of ABH. I was interviewed and declined to comment and referred the police to the incident report I had written which they had seized from the club. I was bailed pending further investigation until 25th February.
Returning in February I was told that I had been charged with battery against the female. Yet I was never interviewed in respect of this incident and the aggrieved had waited until the 5th February to submit her statement. She stated that I had grabbed her by the throat and then punched her in the face. She

I don't think there will be enough evidence to support her claim, unless there are independent witnesses prepared to back up her account and some kind of medical evidence. She also has motive for making a false charge.
Hopefully you have witnesses or maybe cctv evidence to back up the fact that you were acting in self-defence, this will stand strongly in your favor.
good luck.
get a good solicitor.

The rest of my question was cut off, I only realised when I saw it posted.
I have been charged with an offence which I was never interviewed about. The female waited 2 months before she submitted her complaint to the police.
There are no witnesses to compound her story. There is no CCTV either. I am curious to know therefore how they can have charged me with assault based only on her say-so, and if so how much chance there is of me being convicted.
I also have three independent witnesses to state that I pushed her in self-defence.
Thanks.

This sucks for you, but I hate to say it, I have no mercy
I was involved in an scuffle with a doorman myself, bouncers think they can hit and sock people because its part of their \"job\" well they are mistaken, I was punched literally for no reason because a guy, whom I don\'t had the greatest history who was at the bar was buddies with the bouncers.
I was victomized over a petty icident which they used to throw me out and strike me, I defended myself, yet I got arrested. Now the bouncers and the place of employement are at my mercy, not only that I wasn\'t Miranda when I was arrested.

A few months back i was involved in an incident which has caused me some distress it all happened when my ex girlfriend and i were confronted by her friends in a nearby fairground. The girls as they are gobby teenagers start yelling abuse and myself and my ex girlfriend after a few horrible words were thrown from each candidate my ex girlfriend kicks this girl and they start a scuffle i try my best to restrain these girls from my ex unfortunatly was over powered by them until some local PCSO's came along and resolved the case for now... we are trying to get back home and we start to get followed by groups from the fair and start following us through town we then hit a dead spot and decide to run from that point around 50 people starting joining in the chase through town and my ex stops becuase her friend is left behind from that moment we were subject to a group of girls coming after both of us. They pull my ex's hair and bring her to the ground i was outnumbered and therefore did my best to restrain them until the PCSO's and local Police officers got there. The situation started to settle until the boyfriend of the girl who was attacking my ex girlfriend got up in my face and landed a punch straight in my mouth causing a cut lip, this was infront of PCSO officers and everything and they reassure me they saw the whole thing. When proper police officers got there they retracted their statements and i have 2 witnesses to back me up on this.
What can i do about this ? Can anybody give me any advice?
The person who punched me has been charged for 3 counts of common assault and that includes spitting on 2 female friends of mine. Due in court sometime this month, what happens if he does not plead guilty?
Thanks.

I am currently on a common assault charge waiting for CCTV. After a doorman through someone else out they pushed me out if the way. Being drunk I had a little moan which resulted in me being thrown to the ground. The bouncers report states that in me struggling I caught him in the face. As I didn't remember the morning after the police cell from the drink before I said that I could not admitto doing this as I could not remember. To Which I got a response of well if you had accepted t you would have just got a caution. Does that now NRA that as I can still not remember due to he'd hitting the ground that I will receive a more severe punishment if CCTV shows they are right. Also this happened outside of the bouncers jurisdiction
