Ownership of house
My husband recently died, and, although we had been separated for 3 years, we remained married and still had a joint mortgage on the property that I still live in.
I've let the mortgage company know and they have simply transferred all of the mortgage into my name and advised me to contact Land Registry.
When I spoke to LR, they said that the house was only ever registered in my husband's name, so I will have to apply to prove that I'm the only person with an interest in this.
Obviously, this is scaring the hell out of me, as I've paid the mortgage on this place for the last 10 years, so I'm not even sure at the moment if the house is even mine (well once I've paid off the mortgage company anyway).
His Will was sorted by his sister and I've not heard anything about it yet, so not sure if anything's mentioned specifically about the house, but don't think he will have mentioned it, as we (me and the kids) live here and I pay the mortgage.
Any ideas on what I can do? I don't want to have to see a solicitor, as I'm very short of cash at the moment.
Thanks
