an uncle of mine has been employing a housekeeper/nanny for the last three years, she's great at cooking, cleaning, and looking after the kids. shes very trust worthy and hard working.

recently we found out that she is an illegal immigrant, we are so worried that we may lose her as she is like family now. is there anything we can do to keep her in the country, as she is being paid well cash in hand (which i know is another illegal thing as she's not paying taxes).

are there any ways for illegal immigrants to be legal in this counytry? i dnt think a work permit will work in her favour now

If she's that good at cooking/cleaning etc. just marry her and then she's legal

A bit drastic perhaps but it would work lol
What is her nationality?
how did you find out she was an illegal immigrant?

Question Author
it is illegal, but we didnt knw at first and secondly she is like family, she knws everyone and all our family secrets and etc, and everybody likes her, thats why its so hard, otherwise we wouldnt care, even the kids love her. we dnt want to employ someone illegal, but we cant let family go

i think you will have to try and go through the right channels and hope for the best.
Who is going to know. I would be thinking first of the children she has been looking after for the past 3 years and how devastated they would be should she leave.

She isnt the first illegal immigrant and I am darned sure she wont be the last.

not the right thing to do but I would just be taking my chances.

Take Care.

thanks katie, and also we dnt mind paying the 10,000 fine, but we would rather put that ten grand to better use like making her legal but after doing my research its not possible. spoke to a few MP friends lawyers of the family, and they are afraid to touch the case, as it has a high chance of going pair shaped, nobody in the home office would care about the kids. we're just worried one day she will get caught and its all over
Your uncle could make an appointment with a solicitor who specialises in immigration laws. He could keep the details vague (i.e. no names) but may well learn some useful information/suggestions.
Question Author
we tried all that, but negative results,
