Why do these two have to remanded in custody until November. After all unlike suspected terrorists they are not likely to go to ground.
Does anyone think that if they had been wealthy celebs. they would have been imprisoned for 8 months before standing trial? After all in this country one is innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecution will in this time be sifting the mass of evidence and trying to present a water tight Cse. This process takes time. Also, I imagine a trial lasting a few weeks, so the case will need to be timetabled at the end of the current queue.
puss_boots, it has been suggested in the press that they orchestrated the disappearance in order that the British public would donate to a Find Madeline-type fund which they could then spend. I'm not 100% sold on this as it became clear quite soon that this didn't happen. But I suppose by then it was too late for them to back out. God only knows how they expected it to all end. But then they aren't the sharpest tools in the box are they?
