Broken leg
I broke my leg about about 5 weeks ago ive been told my cast will be off in 8 weeks am i still obliged to work with my cast on? does this not conflict with health and safety?
sometimes i am left on my own doin reception work where i am hoping around the reception area and find it very uncomfortable as it does require me to stand on one foot as my other is in cast

i cant believe they cant see that i am making an effort especialy for working a 9 hour day. this is why i thought it was expected of me to still be working with a broken leg.
Thank you

they sound like a bunch of bas****s! It is your absolute right on breaking a bone and having a cast not to work, particulalry as it is a leg...i can't imagine how difficult it must be to try and do your normal role lugging a great big cast about. can't see how trying to stand on one leg for hours will aid your recovery, either. not to mention that you are a h+s risk to yourself and others in case there was an emergency or something - most employers don't want to know when you've broken something because of this. and lastly, who cares if you owe them hours? sounds like they will still be waiting for you when you get back there. just after a nice rest and proper healing time!!! good luck.

Providing you can sit down to do your duties, then I must be the only one who thinks that it's totally reasonable to work with a broken leg. By all means, take couple of days off to get over the immediate shock and pain, but if you're an office worker I would say that it's entirely fine to work!
Of course, if there are elements of your job that require you to walk around a lot, then your work should come up with an alternative, but I'm guessing that the majority of your duties do not require this.
I've been in a cast and on crutches before, but because it was a desk job, I could sit down, pop a couple of painkillers and work entirely normally....

well i consulted my doctor and explained exactly what my duties were at work and he said DO NOT WORK! That i am not doing myself any favours for healing my leg as quick as possible.
Yes i can sit down some of the time but when ther are customers i have to stand as the desk is to high up an uf i sit they wont notice i am there. not only that there are many dogs running around loose that can knock me over. also going to the toilet is very hard as they are up some vey narrow stairs without and banisters and they kibd of twist up so i can go round on my bum especial wen my workplace is full of people always using the stairs.
