I work in the care sector and before i started i had to get a disclosure, and even after so many years if i wish to change my job within the care sector i would still have to have a hastened disclosure, I live in Scotland!my sister has not long started working in a nusery cooking the infants meals and hasent had to go through a disclosure, my sister is says her boss never mentioned it, though she has nothing to hide, i find that strange or even dangerous in the wrong hands!

Hi puddicat, I find that strange too and her boss could have employed a total nutcase and obviously doesnt care. Obviously your sis isnt but I mean he could make that mistake in the future.

Yep weeal thats in Liverpool he oversees a few nurseries and has several contracts within merseyside!
I think if I was a parent i would be insisting on it !

Is it not law in England then? Here you need disclosure for loads n loads of jobs eh, Ive just applied for an admin job in a housing assoc and I will have to get full disclosure for that.
Mandatory in Scotland -I am Scottish as well puddicat.

Yip I agree -very dangerous not to go through the disclosures route-just think Soham - sadly.
Question Author
which one weeal housing assoc wise!
a Perthsire one, am moving back up there ASAP if I can get a job
Question Author
yep dris was quite irate about that my sis said that he was only interested in filling the post!
It is strange. Most people work with children for all the right reasons - but there are some weirdos out there.

Your sister could be a danger to the children and nobody would know.

Get her to sell her story to the media.

I applied for a voluntary job with the WRVS which meant me getting a disclosure done. I had no problems with this, but I asked if the 'customers' had a disclosure completed too and she said 'no'.

I am female and could be going to a disabled guy's home on my own and he could be a rapist or murderer. Do they assume that being old or disabled means that you are harmless?

Bah!

not hillcrest by chance they do dundee

I think its because there is such a wait for a disclosure 10weeks and over thats why they wont wait!!!
No its actually Perthshire H A, think they just cover Perth and surrounding areas.

Wolf youre right, but what a job and expense that would be vetting all the clients eh. There should be loan working rules for that kind of thing tho
O weeal -bad move disclosing that to me lol !!!

I know the one youre on about -H was with them before we got married -hope you get it hun !!!

puddi -well dodgy but if it isnt mandatory in England then what can you do?

We take it for granted here-I have never heard one person complain about it -its just part of the procedure -quite rightly so as well !!
I am in Scotland - I thought that disclosures were manditory for some jobs.
Dris, im really hopeful for that job but might take weeks to find out, Ive applied for 5 our the Courier this week - fingers crossed, I hate being back in the West Coast.
Heres hoping hun (oops weeal) -tell ya tho J is with Hays and she is getting cracking jobs and also her CV is being put forward for permanent jobs. They have basically - being a recruitment agency-cleared her so they can now vouch for her.She will never be shy of a job through them tho. They cover Scottish and Southern ,Norwich Union and loads of other local employers.Might be worth giving them a call -surprisingly very good.
Knew It was Perhshire Housing BTW -they have beautiful houses and were always a pleasure to deal with -so guess youre looking at moving to the fab City of Perth -lucky person you-J has finally moved there and its fantastic.Thinking about myself TBH -its just so beautiful.
all of perthshire is beautiful, i cant wait to get back

i called hayes and they were less than helpful, im registered already with their Glasgow office, who are also unhelpful, maybe its my age lol
puddicat where in Scotland are you?
Question Author
Do i really have to say!
Question Author
Fife!!!!
wolf -hey there -its mandatory in Scotland -there are different levels of disclosures but you cant get a job with out them here.
Take on board what youre saying about 'clients' but I daresay they have been 'vetted' before they are given the all clear for someone to visit them at home to help them.

Sorry puddi -a bit of a hi-jack -but good thread xx
(ken what we are like when we start blethering lol)
