renting a garage question
3 Answers
i have been renting a lock up garage for 20 years, the owner of garage died but before he did passed on to me his sons name, address and bank details and told me the son would be looking after all his affairs, that was about 12 years ago, ive had problems with garage door and roof and have tried contacting the son through last known address and his bank but there has been no response, that was a year ago, ive since stopped paying rent with again no response. my question is, where do i stand regarding getting repairs done, can i apply to keep garage. there are 3 other garages in block of 4 that have no idea where or who owns them, can i make a claim to own said garages and how do i go about staking a claim. any help much appreciated. thanks

If you know the postal address or code you can just put that in the search or go to the page with the maps. You can look at a street map or a satellite photo & you can over lay the two. If there is a record of the garage's owner you will have to pay 6 for the details & another 6 for a copy of the plan.
Otherwise you can have them do a manual search. You will only get results if the land is registered, some isn't!
After that I would consult a lawyer who specialises in property law about what you are entitled to do & if you can ever claim the site as your own.
