Property in Trust?

How can I find out if a property has been placed in Trust for the benefit of children?
I cannot find any Trust documentation, there is no mention of a Trust/Trustees in the property's deeds, nor any mention via the online Land Registry site.
Is there a central government repository somewhere?

Creating a trust is an extremely complicated process usually requiring the services of a solicitor.

The trust is registered on the Title at the Land Registry, usually by way of a Restriction. If the Registered Title is free of such Restriction, the property is not held on trust.

I hate to disagree with Ethel but creating a trust is exceedingly simple - so simple that you can do it without realising it by eg the wrong wording in a will..

It's formally documenting it, getting that right and running the trust that are more complicated. It looks like it's that that hasn't been done.

If the trust was specified in a will, then that will is evidence of the existence of a trust. Not particularly safe evidence - it could be ignored with no one being much the wiser, at least until too late.

But no, there is no central registry.
