drinking water from? We've just been informed that they are putting a machine on that will charge us 20p per plastic cup of water. Would you pay this if your work did this? We're on the phones all day and get quite parched, this can't be right can it?
H & S regs your place of work has to provide drinking water. ask them to look at getting plumber in machines, you have to pay rental on the cooler and maint. ocst but its much cheaper that the water bottles
what they should do , is when new people start at your place of work , then they should sign , an agreement , so any new workers , are made aware of this , - as for the current workers ???? - conTACT EMPL;OYMENT TRIBUNAL SERVICE ?
Our water coolers were taken away because of HSE reasons. Now, you might think they are talking about lifting the water bottle to jam it in the cooler.....oooohhhhh noooooo....my employers, in their wisdom, decided that germs might accumulate in the nozzle and we'll all have germs in our water when we our it.
Ooh dear, sounds a cheap and nasty thing to do from where I'm sitting Lisa. Although I don't know that they are obliged to provide this for free. Is there any drinking water from a tap you can have?
Nope, no tap near us just the canteen and the loo and that is 'yuk'. I just think it's really tight of them to ask us to pay, they can take the thing away as far as i'm concerned, i'll start bringing in my own in the morning!
We all carry small insulated lunch bags to my job at school. They will not provide a cooler, fridge or microwave, so we are forced to carry a cooler bag. (Which must be hidden away according to the principal b/c "You like you are going to the beach." ) It is common practice here in US for employers to provide water and small "Kitchen area" where coffee is available.
some insurance underwriting companies , dont allow , kettles electrcal appliances , in thier - "rest room area" - so to minimise the risk, of employees , pputting a claim in against htier employers , if they get electric shock or something , -
Law dropout any appliances must be PAT tested , and then will be ok for insurance purposes.this is law in uk even applies to things like a mains radio in a burger van .
Ive got plenty bottled water in the fridge at alll times.bottled is far more hygienic thasn the coolers which germs can accumulate on ,
Regarding the insurance law dropout.
If anyone on hjere is using any electrical appliance whatsoever at work and it doesnt have a sticker on it saying its PAT tested then they shouldnt be using it .
thats pcs , kettles , anything with a plug on it .
What a waste of money ..more germs in
bottled than tap water ..no way would I
pay 20p for it ...take your own ...sounds
as if if you work for Scrooge &Co ....
You can get cheap bottled water from supermarkets for about 20p for 2 litres. Much cheaper than newly expensive water from work. That's so cheeky - being charged for drinking water!
