My partner and I are expecting our first baby. On our joint salaries we're entitled to a portion of child tax credit. However, due to ridiculous amounts of rent in the area where we live, we are moving in with my Dad. With his wage included with ours the household income will be above the child tax allowance. Will they take my Dads wage into account? He will not be financially supporting us in any way and as we are paying him rent, technically he will have more of a landlord status. Does anyone know whether they will just go off parental wages in that case? Thanks alot!
Thanks for your quick answer! Unfortunately we're not entitled to any housing benefits. I'd heard it went off household income, but if the form only asks for mine and partners wage that's good news!
i lived with my mom when i first had my son and i still claimed with my partner, they are not interested in how many people live in your house they only want to know about you and your partners income
They are not interested in your dad's income. Unless he is a millionaire and you are all taking the mick. In which case, give me some money. But seriously, it is your and your partner's income that counts towards this award as you are the ones living off your income. If you're mega rich daddy is giving you three hundred grand a year or so, then you might just want to mention it however.
