Sorry tommy -not detracting from your post -just couldnt help laughing at them !!
I would think it would be wholely unneccesary to do the 0-30 quickly-so I would deem it a bit boy racerish so I would go along the lines of it being reckless and a tad foolhardy .Thats just my opinion.

To answer your question, no.
If you wheel spin it can be an offence as you are not in control of the car but unless something happens which is caused by your fast acceleration, there is no offence.
When I had a fast car, it was always good fun on A road traffic lights when I puled up next to a cop car and accelerated to 70mph in about 5 secs and set the cruise at 70.
They can do jack sh!t.
But I do respect the police however.

Why are you all answering the question that you want to answer, rather than the question that was asked?
tetjam, from your inability to focus on the facts, you are evidently not legally experienced, so why are you answering a legal question?
The question did not involve schools. Or roundabouts. Or crossings. It involved acceleration. If you add your own additional elements, you are changing the question, so you can hardly call tommy an "idiot".
So, the answer is that acceleration, per se, cannot be reckless.
If you want to add additional elements, then here's one. Even if I floor it in my MGF, as long as I have the roof down, I have no blind spots. Assuming I am not near tetjam's imiginary "school", I am clearly being more careful that drivers with hard roofs, and door pillars.
Also, if my hair blows around in the wind, I look a damn sight more stylish than most of them.
