I was charged with attempted assault after hitting my husband after he physically harrassed and menaced me and verbally abused my son. I have different incident reports from the past ten years with the police stating the abuse against my children and myself. How likely will I be able to use this information in my criminal defense and divorce?

10 years of abuse against you and your children, yet he's not your ex-husband?

or is this another one of those greenie questions?
unlikely you will be able to use this to get off, as you freely admit you did it. How is it any different than him hitting you. The authorities take a dim view of people taking justice into their own hand like you have done. You have validated the way he treats you, by treating him the same way. if you are to continue living with him - then the correct course of action is t call the police when he hits you/your children
