A friend is due to start new employment after the summer school break .She has now dicovered happily that she is 6 weeks pregnant. She intends to start this new job .Will she be entitled to full maternity leave .Thanks for any replies.

no, she will be entitled to leave but not SMP as she wont have been employed by them for 26 weeks before her 15th week of pregnancy.

If she has been in employment for 26 weeks then she may well be able to claim Maternity allowance of up to �117 a week.
