Portuguese Solicitors Fees (House Buying)
We are moving to Portugal either later this year or early next year. We are wondering if anybody could tell us a rough idea of the Solicitors Fees Charged There for Conveyancing / House Buying. We are sorted here in Wales with our local Solicitor as for selling, it is the Potuguse end where we need some guidance.
Thank You in advance for ANY HELP PLEASE, Mr Kenny Thompson, Conwy Valley, North-West Coast of WALES.

You can search on the Law Society site for residential conveyancers who can speak Portuguese (though a Portuguese lawyer speaking very good English would also work).
There are three in Cardiff with Portuguese speakers at their offices...

It's a very different system over there and numerous fees are payable as both notary and solicitor are required.
Make sure you fully understand any planning issues.
You cannot use a solicitor here unless they are qualified under portuguese jurisdiction, make sure you get one who speaks good english so you fully understand what is going on.
If you are planning to link the sale and purchase, this needs to be sorted at a very early point between your lawyer here and the portuguese counterparts.

I've found an expat forum here where you should be able to get some good advice and recommendations from people who have been there and done it :)

Hi JENNA 1978, YOU have been so-so helpful. I have been able to move forward now, armed with LOTS MORE INFO, ALL thanks to you.
I am awaiting the arrival of a few books purchased on Amazon which should clear everything up for me.
