If an item is undelivered, say it was too big to put through the letterbox so taken back and a card left, does anyone know what happens to the mail if it is not collected?

There would have been an address stamp on it for the sender as it was business post and franked.

the post office returns it to the sender

Unfortunately it appears not in this case as it's not been returned, not yet anyway and was sent over 6 months ago.

Thanks for replying though, that's what I figured but was hoping it might have ended up elsewhere.
Unless for some reason, the sender's address was not visible on the package?
I think that all undelivered parcels go back to a depot in Belfast.
Only if there is no proper address on the outside, nor senders address anywhere to be found so it can be returned.
