Driving with due care and attention
I am a delivery driver, i was waiting to turn right at a traffic lights behind a car. I looked left and there was a car sitting on a pedestrian crossing, which was green. (About 10 yards off the junction)
The car infront of me turned right and there was enough room for me to go aswell so i turned right. The car infront of me stopped suddenly.. (The women was still sitting on the green light) i then could'nt stop in time and went into the back of the car infront. (I was going around 10 mph) Which sent the car into the back of the women still setting at the pedestrian crossing which was a minor bump, no damage.
I know this is my fault as i was to close to the car infront.
It turns out the bloke infront of me that i hit, was driving on a provisional license. No L plates. Which led his car to be seized.
The police women told me that if i was going to be prosecuted i would recieve a letter in the post within two weeks of the incident. 6 months on I've been sent a letter today (14th August) saying i've been summoned to court in a couple of weeks for a accident which took place on the 18th March.
What should i expect to recieve points, fine wise. Any more than 6 points would cost me my job.
Should i plead guilty and recieve a smaller fine or get a decent lawyer and fight it?
