an ex boyfried is saying that he is going to take me to court to get me to pay towards his credit card/loans-entirley in his name ran up by himself and no benefit to myself, he says that i promised him some money when i sold my house, he has already been told that he has no beneficial interest in my property. what would be his chances of getting a judgment towards me. thanks

In any event, I can't see that your ex has any claim on you. Other than perhaps a claim for promissory estoppel (ie he acted with detriment to himself on receipt of a promise from you). Bl00dy hard to prove. Personally I would do what Ethel says and tell him "go on big boy, make my day".
