Acting as a Sponsor for an overseas student?

My husband and I have been asked to act as a Sponsor for a Student coming from the Philipines to study in London. They need this letter to support their application.

We are unsure what being a sponsor involves and what our responsibilities will be.

Can anyone clarify?
