Passport renewal
6 Answers
My passport is due for renewal in 2010 and I'm also due to get married that year. Can I change my passport into my married name so my married name appears when I go on honeymoon? A bit previous I know, but just trying to get my head round everything!

Your name will legally change when you get married so you would need to get it changed after the marriage ceremony before you go on your honeymoon. I guess you wont have time to be honest. I could be wrong but it seems obvious to me :S
Are you getting married before your passport expires?
If so, you can use it for your honeymoon despite it still being in your maiden name. This happens all the time.
When you book your honeymoon your flight will be in your maiden name and having a different name on your passport will complicate matters.
Alternatively you could change your name to your married name now (by deed poll is easiest) and apply for a new passport in your new name.
But if your passport expires after your marriage, I would leave it.

Hi you can change your passport into your married surname up to 3 months before you get married but you can't use it til you are actually married, so if you do not intend to use your passport in the 3 months preceeding your wedding go for it. I did. got my passport issued in Sept and got married in november. i then had my married name on passport for honeymoon.
It is actually better to do it in advance for reasons stated on this link
