Was wondering is it legal to drive through a tempoary red traffic ?light when i can see clearly up the road there is a distance of less than 20 metres, between the lights and no other side roads or hazards are in the way of trafic flow and visibility is excelent plus the same lights have had a tendancy to keep getting stuck on red at one side or the other on a regular basis. thanks and hope to get some feedback on this, from a legal perspective.

Doubt it is legal lo drive through a temporary light even if nothing is coming.
If the light is stuck on red I think most of us would go through on red if necessary, but it's not enough to say "it sometimes sticks so i went through"

I assume (but I don't know) that a temporary road closure / amended authorisation is required for these lights that randomly appear astride roadworks. If so, then they presumably also have the weight of the law on their side.
Ethel - sounds like one for your knowledge-base.

hi.
iv read all the anwsers thats been posted on your question.
i think you already know the anwser to this question.
yes you can go through temp traffic lights if they are on red.
as long as you can see to the other side and at least 100 yrds further.
but take care out there.
ian jones.
P.S.
do you know if you get stopped by a police officer and he asks to see your licence.
"thats if you have it on you"
if the officer takes it out of the plastic sleeve its in,the officer is causing an offence"WHY YOU MAY ASK"
say he/she stopped you for speeding and then when he stopped you took your licence from its sleeve and seen you have been stopped and had points for a simular offence then this will hinder him giving you a warning and letting you off to prosecute you for the same thing.
well i think you know what i mean in the saying of this question i gave you.

I don't understand most of ianglyn's response, such as the sentence "well i think you know what i mean in the saying of this question i gave you"
I didn't understand most of it either!!

Prior to 1994 temporary traffic lights where advisory, so if it was safe you could jump them

Since a rework of the law in 1994 they have the same standing as permanent ones.

So no you can't jump them!
