MOT and disposing of car
6 Answers
Hi all, wondering if you can help.
My car has recently failed it's MOT, and the orignal one is now expired. My mechanic says that he cannot fix the car, so while I am contemplating what on earth to do with it, I have registered it as SORN.
So, my question is, when I decide what to do with it, i.e scrap, can I get into trouble for driving it to it's "final destination"? If so, how do I get around this?
Thanks very much
Honey

Call round scrap merchants and find one that will collect, they will probably collect for free as with the price of scrap at the moment they will make a fair bit of money from the car.
In fact they should really pay you, but not many scrap merchants will if they collect as they know you have a problem disposing of it.
But don't pay them for the collection!
