Possibly he looked older!!!
Question Author
no he dosen't he is a 15 year old boy he dosen't look 18 thats 4 sure!!!!
Hi klair, your step son went for it. I know it's annoying, but the tattoo is done. You say he didn't show any fake ID, how can you be sure? Same thing happened with my daughter, I was annoyed she had gone ahead with it despite everything, but that was her decision in the end. If you want to confront the tattooist, take your step son along and you may find out he did in fact give him fake ID.
dont blame anyone but ure stepson, there isnt a magnetic force drawing him there!!!

sachs
Thank u. He said that he didn't and the tattooist has got rep for doing under age people,
Question Author
I understand he is to blame but that's like us saying we can sell alchol 2 under 18 and not ask 4 ID
maybe go to a help session on 'how to be a better, more influential parent'?
I understand your anger klair. My daughter got hers done just above the belly button!!!!! I said to her, what happens when you are older and may be want children? That tattoo is going to look awful, name of a band ' Nirvana' She regrets it now she's older. By the way, my daughter 'told' me it was a temporary tattoo, it wasn't!
i dont think police but maybe trading stadards?
However there really really is no point being very stressed out and upset because it is done now and can't be undone.
When you say "he cant get away with it" what do you mean? you want him in prison? fined? shut down?
Prosecution of an offence such as this is most probably best dealt with by the Environmental Health department of your local council.
Report it to your local police. they wont be happy but it is an offence and they should deal........ Persevere klair
This is a link to the Cheshire Police, where it states it is a criminal offence to tattoo an under 18 and advises a parent to attend the police station

You cannot compare getting a tattoo with selling alcohol

Personally, as he is your step son, I would also say it has nothing to do with you it is between his mother and father

It will be exceptionally difficult to prove your step son did not show ID as hazarding an educated guess the tattoo artist will say he did

Leave the boy to regret this when he is older then you can say told you so
Indeed, just what has it got to do with you. You make no mention of his father who presumably lives with you. What does his mother think about it?
step parents are important she could have been his main parent since he was a baby.....dont jump in before you know the facts Boasting bob, you did make an assumption of me, which I was cross about...
I had a tattoo done when I was 16. Wasn't asked for ID at all. I did try and make myself look a bit older.

The fact remains that I wanted a tattoo, I went in and had it done on my own steam. If he had asked for ID, I had some fake ID ready. If he'd sent me on my way, I would have gone to another tattooist, and another, and another... until someone agreed to do it.

Perhaps go and see the tattooist, tell him your stepson was underage. If he thought he was underage and didn't bother asking, it may frighten him into thinking twice about doing it again. It may have been a genuine mistake - you really don't know for sure.
You cannot compare selling alchol to doing a tatoo, it is much more serious than that. If I were you I would report this incident to the police, and make sure they take matters further. As well as the legal implications of this, there is also the health risks of HIV and Hepititus if they have not cleaned their instruments correctly. Yes, I would, without doubt, report this offender to the authorities.
You have to go to the police with this one!

I can't believe folk here are telling you more or less to ignore it. All tattooists have to (or should!) ask for ID. My own tattooists will not do them if you haven't got photo ID. In his case a birth certificate alone just won't cut it. He values his license too much.

Go to the police and make a big song and dance about this.

Good luck :-)
