Marrying my American boyfriend
7 Answers
Hey
I am travelling to Utah on the 9th of this month to be with my finance, we are planning on getting married and then returning to England. I am not planing on returning to the UK without my boyfriend and without us being married plus he wont let me. We want to do whatever it takes to stay together and we cannot be separated. I have a return ticket booked but I am not going back unless we are married. Please help us, how do we get married in the US and can I apply for a Visa whilst in the US? What is the best thing for us to do, we don't want to be apart so I am praying that there will be a way we can stay together legally and without us having to separate.
Any help will very much be appreciated, thank you!

lol good luck with that!
my brother and his wife have been married 5 years. Shes american hes british. They married then she couldnt get a UK visa for a year! Then they lived in UK and she wanted to go back to USA. It has taken 18 months for him to get a visa to enable him to go with her.
Why can you not be seperated? Of course you can if it means you get the correct and legal paperwork

You can enter US on a visitor's visa. However you should not really enter with the intention of getting married. What you should do is enter the US and then wait 60 days and then get married. Then you could apply for change of status to a permanent resident as you are now married to an American citizen. During this period if you leave and go back to England however, you may not be allowed back in when you try to return. Whether he is allowed to stay in UK I am not sure, but to be honest you are entering a minefield here and really it would be better to get some proper advice before you embark on all this - you do not want to wreck your chances of ever being able to come back to the United States with your husband.
