Landlord dies, what happens?
2 Answers
Hi,
My patner and I are privately renting a property via an agency. The landlord was an elderly lady in a care home so her daughter was down on agreements as "c/o".
Her grandson has just been to the house to ask if he can leave flowers as his gran (i.e. our landlord) has died.
Where does this leave us ... the agreement is 6 months. We've done two. Is there any chance we would be able to stay on or will the daughter have to sell the house now for the will etc
I'm so worried as since moving here I've lost my job and now if we have to move I won't get referenced for a new house!

In A Pickle is probably right that the property (and therefore the tenancy) will pass to whoever is due to inherit it but I'd be tempted to ask this question on a more specialised site such as

where I know there are legal experts who will give free advice. If nothing else it should give you reassurance.
