Claims by children on moveable estate (Scotland)

It is a second marriage with each of us having 2 adult children from our first marriages.
In Scots law when may these children claim from the moveable estate?
On the death of their own parent? Or do they wait till both their parent and step parent have died?
Do step children have a claim on the estate of step parents?
