is my parent responsible to pay money back?

my parent is not the executer of the will but did live with the grandparent until death.
lots of money was spent for the home and needs although some unnecessary spending occurred.
do they need to pay back if the executer tells them to out of their part of the estate?

more info needed,what was spent and on what,and by whom.
I agree more info. is needed, but if the deceased spent her own money and was mentally competent to do so and not put under undue pressure by your parent or anyone else, then I don't see any grounds on which the executor could want money paid back.

On the other hand, if your parent (or anyone else) was spending the deceased's money without the deceased's knowledge it is another matter entirely.
