We want to get married in a few months, probably at a Registry Office. My Local Authority says we have to "Give Notice" to the Superintendent Registrar of the District.

I've made an appointment for us to go there and we have to provide the usual ID and proof of residency, plus pay 60. Does giving notice, just mean we are applying for a marriage license?

I presume its the equivalent of having the Banns read for a church service
hello when i looked into getting married....at the time ( which was 6 years ago) you had to put your names up on the board at the registras office for 6 weeks? i think they have reduced that time now, tho i dont remember the inns and outs of the situation
