Warranty problems

Hi I have a dell Inspiron 1520 and it run out of warranty about a week ago. The hard drive has gone on it (just like my 1720 but had it replaced under warranty) but because dell knows it's an ongoing problem with allot of their machines it covered outside the warranty because I have heard Xbox do it with the RROD.
