There is no time limit on the pursuance of debts. The 6 years refers to the max acknolwedgement elapsed time.

Through no fault of my own I was pursued for over �600 a few years ago for not apparently having paid enough tax for several years previously.
However, the organisation I was employed by had simply miscalculated the amounts over the years, something I was ignorant of, but it was muggins of course who had to cough up for the mistakes of others! Not that I mind paying what I owe, but it don't half make you cuss anyway when some pillock's incompetence rebounds on little old unsuspecting you!
